Our Guestbook

Mike Grantham, PGA Professional, writes…

Many thanks for the three weeks of looking after my three groups.  They seem to have all enjoyed your beautiful facilities.  It has been a different experience for my golfing weeks but well worth it.  Good luck for the future.  (Sept 2008)

Philip, Keirsten and Kayleigh write…

Words cannot sufficiently express how enjoyable a time we had here at Les Vieux Chais this past week. Notwithstanding the beauty of the area and in particular the ambience and character of la Maison de Maître, your genuine hospitality and welcoming desire to make our stay comfortable and memorable has left a lasting impression with us. From the time of our very early/or late 0030hrs arrival and your enthusiastic welcome, we have certainly been impressed. As a timeshare owner we have stayed in many memorable places, however, none of the accommodations and staff can come close to Les Vieux Chais. You have certainly set the benchmark!

We wish you all success in your endeavours but our selfish side would like to keep Les Vieux Chais our secret. Thank you once again for your kindness and friendship. (July 2008)

Kathy writes…

Unlike most of your guests, we came here to work – and what a lovely relaxing place to use as our base for photography! Les Vieux Chais has definitely played an input in bringing this book to fruition, so thank you for making it possible! The Maison de Maître is a delightful and comfortable place to live and your garden is a continuing delight. We all hope to return some day for an actual vacation in this part of France. (July 2008)

Peter Watson, President of Peover Golf Club, Cheshire, and his wife Sue write…

Thank you for sharing your beautiful ‘Les Vieux Chais’ with us – we had a wonderful holiday in the peace and calm of Bourg-Charente – an enchanting place.  Hospitality excellent and hosts perfect.  Will recommend.  (Sept 2008)

Valerie & Peter write…

Thank you so much for your friendship and hospitality.  Your home and its facilities are a credit to you both.  A super week’s holiday!  (Sept 2008)

Doug & Janet write…

No epistle just sincere thanks for an extremely comfortable and very enjoyable stay.  You were magnificent hosts for our week in your ‘chateau’.  (Sept 2008)

Kayleigh writes…

I really enjoyed my week here.  It was so inviting from the moment we arrived.  You made us so at home and relaxed.  You’re so kind and generous and it shows in your warm greetings and careful eye for detail in the beautiful garden and beautiful rooms we stayed in.  Thank you for making my vacation!  (July 2008)

Mike & Louise write…

Many thanks to you both for making our holiday so comfortable.  Your hospitality was unsurpassed and we wish you continued success in the future.  (Sept 2008)

Helen & Bob write

We have had a lovely time and your chais is beautiful.  We will come back, without the golf clubs, to explore more of the lovely countryside.  Thank you for your hospitality and help.  (Sept 2008)

Jim & Lillian write…

Thank you both ever so much for making our holiday such a memorable and enjoyable one. You were so friendly and made us most welcome. Les Vieux Chais is such an interesting building and Bourg-Charente makes a wonderful base from which to visit so many lovely places in the area – Cognac, Jarnac, La Roche Courbon, cruise on the river and not forgetting a tour of the Hennessy Distillation Plant.

We have no hesitation in recommending you to whoever needs a good holiday. Thanks again for everything. (June 2008)

Uschi, Udo & Ede write…

Thank you very much for two wonderful weeks at your fantastic estate. Our expectations were exceeded and we enjoyed your companionship, hospitality and friendship very much! So, it is your fault that we will return in December… Looking forward to our next stay. (June 2008)

Theresa writes writes…

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely Maison and Chais with us. You are wonderful hosts. I hope to see you another time.  (July 2008)

Jane writes…

What a great way to ‘come down’ after Paris. From frantic to calm – lovely to have no noise except that of the birds. Wonderful hosts in Bernadette and Ian and lovely to feel part of the family. Thanks for a great entré to rural France!

Lynne writes…

What a magnificent, idyllic place to recharge our batteries. Your kindness, generosity and especially your love and attention will always be cherished. You both are the true “Hostess with the Mostess!” When I get home I will warn everyone “BOOK EARLY SHIRLEY!” It will surpass all expectations! A bientot.
